This gallery illustrates some of the experiments that I have been doing aimed at capturing details of how insects fly (The 'See how they fly project'). The technique involves a camera capable of acquiring 60 frames a second at 20 megapixel resolution. The camera is triggered by the insect relfecting laser light from the point in space on which the camera is focused. Entry into that zone is detected by an optical rangefinder. Details of this technology appear on my other website (www.petermobbs.wordpress.com).
